Happy 4th From the Lewis’!/Asheville Family Photographer

What a great 4th of July we had!  4th of July in N.C. is so much different than it was in New York!  In New York, it required a lot of preplanning, walking, tantrums (if you have a toddler-lol), but also the best fireworks anyone could ever imagine!  Here in Asheville, the fireworks require you to drive your car to the spot where you want to sit.  You get out with your chairs and blankets, ball, bubbles,….and you hang out in a big grassy area until the fireworks start.  The fireworks are a lot less dramatic, but the experience is so much less stressful!  So I have to say, I enjoyed being in Asheville this year for another holiday!  Hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing day with some fabulous friends and fireworks!

Thought I would include a family photo so that future clients will know who to look for.  😉  The dark hair is gone and so is the baby bump!

Remember when you were a child and you thought that if you swung high enough, you could fly up to the tops of the trees?  Mya wanted me to push her that high today and she had the biggest, happiest smile I’ve ever seen on her face.  She’s the cutest little thing!  (Please ignore her “I just woke up from my nap” hairdo!)

And where was little River? Right beside his sister, cheering her on all the way.  Okay, or sleeping.  😉

I just love his little hands.  Not sure if you can tell, but I love my babies.  😉

Here is my contest winner!  Congratulations to Molly for winning the contest that I posted a while back for a free session!  I was so, so excited to do pictures for her.  She is one of the moms from my playgroup and I LOVE her and her children!  She is so much fun and her kids are just precious.  They seriously are some of the most beautiful kids I’ve ever seen.  I’m just a tad bit jealous of her daughter’s hair.  Maybe Mya will have hair like that someday.  😉  This morning was just way too easy.  Her daughter would just pose and smile for me.  AWESOME!  This little girl has been the one to get Mya to be totally potty trained as well as want to start writing her name.  Maybe she can get her to smile for the camera next!  I had a great time with you guys this morning!  Happy 3rd birthday sweet little girl!  We can’t wait to celebrate at your party tomorrow!

Summer is Upon Us!/Asheville Child Photographer

Looks like summer is just around the corner and we can’t wait!  It was a loooong, cold winter, partly spent in NY and some spent up on this treacherous mountain that we live on.  😉  Some days were spent stuck inside because I just couldn’t bring myself to risk getting down the driveway after not having driven in 8 months!  (We didn’t have cars in the city so driving made me feel like I was 16 all over again!)  So bring on the sun, the long days, the evenings spent having drinks by the pool, and the bikinis!  Okay maybe not the bikini this year since this momma just had a baby.  haha!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Mya!/Asheville Child Photographer

Wow!  I can’t believe my baby is  turning 3!  In some ways I feel like she was just born, but at the same time, I feel like she’s been with us forever!  I was very excited to do her pictures and have been thinking for a while what I wanted to do.  I loved her pictures from last year.  See here.  But, it was not fun trying to get her to smile for me then.  I had to trick her into taking her pictures.  No, no, I’m not taking pictures of you!  I’m taking pictures of the bluebonnets!  From the time she was about a year old, I could not take her pictures without her screaming and crying!  Since I was in the process of wanting to learn all that I could about photography, this was a huge disappointment to me!  She was my main subject!  Well, lately, all of that has changed and she has loved having her pictures taken!  Yay!  UNTIL yesterday!  Yesterday was the day that we planned on doing her pictures.  It was also the day that we went to the most insane Easter egg hunt in the world.  And it was also the day that we decided that she didn’t need a nap because she woke up so late in the morning.  BAD idea!  She did not want her pictures taken and refused to cooperate.  On top of that, there were only about a million gnats swarming all around us the entire time that I was trying to take her pictures.  I was so ready to lose my mind!  I really don’t know how I got any decent pictures, but somehow I did and I just love them!  Next year, I told Ryder that we are taking her to a portrait studio!  I kid, I kid.  😉  Maybe she will be back to her model loving self by then.  I can only hope!
