Spring Mini-Sessions Part Deux!/Asheville Child and Baby Photographer

On Sunday I did the second day of my mini-sessions and it went a little differently than I was planning!  I got to the location and got all set up with plenty of time to spare.  My first family showed up and we were right in the middle of doing their photos when it started raining.  And then it started POURING and thundering.  We got under a gazebo and waited it out, but all I could think of was, “Hmmm….all of my stuff is sitting out in that, including things that I spent lots of time making.”  🙁  Finally it quit and they left and I was hanging out all by myself, with all of my wet things and it was so cold!  I didn’t know what to do!  Go to the car and turn on the heat and wait?  I’m the mom who makes my family have a photo session in the rain.  When I’ve got my mind set to do something, I’m doing it.  So after a couple of families came and left because it was so wet and cold, the sun started to come out and I was hopeful that things were going to turn around.  And they did!  It got warmer and the rest of my families came and we had a great time getting some fun pictures!  I went home looking like a cover girl, let me tell you!  Soaking wet shoes, crazy hair, grass-stained knees, just gorgeous!  lol  Needless to say, all I wanted to do when I got home was take a shower!  Thank you to all of the families who made it out and for those of you who weren’t able to stay, I’ll be seeing you in a couple of weeks!  🙂

Springtime!/Asheville Baby and Child Photographer

So, so happy that spring is here!  The weather has been amazing.  I ride around with the sunroof open, the music blaring and a big smile on my face.  This weather will do that to ya!  This afternoon I did spring/Easter mini-sessions.  All day I was afraid it was going to rain and watched weather.com about every 10 minutes.  😉  But it didn’t rain and it was perfect.  So here are a few of my favorites and then it’s off to bed.  zzzzzz…..Why am I up so late when the kids went to bed early tonight?  Don’t I know by now that that means they will probably be up early?!  ha!

This is London.  Isn’t that such a cool name?  She doesn’t like to look at me when I take her pictures, but I don’t mind because I love the pictures of her most when she’s just having fun and being herself.  (By the way, her momma is an A-MAZING artist and I highly recommend checking out her stuff!  We’ve got one of her paintings in our kitchen!

So just to show that London does sometimes look at the camera, here is one of her doing just that!

But I still like these best:

And if you look at my blog often, you will recognize this sweet little bunny.  She and her brother are some of my favorite clients.  I get to photograph them all of the time.  Aren’t I lucky?

I love pictures of babies walking.  Their walk is just too cute!!

I love her blue eyes!

My setup matched her blue and green dress perfectly!

Stay tuned for more throughout the week.  I’ve got another session tomorrow and another mini-session during the week!  Yay for busy season!

Success!/Asheville Child Valentines Photographer

I did it!  Woohoo!  I got Mya’s pictures taken and it was rather easy, if I do say so myself.  If you follow my blog, you know that Mya has never liked having her picture taken.  Need some examples?  See here, and here, and here.  I could add more, but you get the idea.  So I’ve had my studio all set up and have showed it to her many times to get her used to the idea.  I showed her her shirt that I made for her.  I showed her her pictures from last year.  She even watched me paint this chair.  She wanted to be the first to try it out!  (This chair was something I found at Goodwill thinking it would be an easy, cheap new prop.  Ha!  It ended up costing me nearly $80 after all of the paint!  Good grief!  The silver bucket, on the other hand, was only $5!  Makes up for it.  A little.)  So this morning, we went and got the chair to see how it looked after its final coat of paint and I asked her what she thought about taking her pictures with the chair.  Her response:  “Do I have to take my pajamas off?”  😉  So she got changed and was very excited.  All we had to do was let Papa Bear go first and then she was great!  Yay!  Mission accomplished, again!  So why am I dreading her 4 year pictures when they are still 4 months away?!

And Papa Bear!  He was a natural!  😉

Testing, Testing 1, 2, 3/Asheville Baby and Child Photographer

My studio is now all set up and I had to try it out this morning.  Thanks to my amazing husband for all of his hard work!  He rocks the house!!  I love how men are able to put things together so easily.  I told him what I needed as far as flooring and a backdrop stand and he came up with the coolest design!  I can’t even put a book shelf together!  I blame it on not doing enough puzzles as a child.  😉  I’m so very excited to be using my studio now for newborn and baby sessions!  So what better way to try it out than with some New Year’s pictures?  Happy 2012 to all of you out there!  Hope this year is filled with lots of smiles and good health!

I took this photo of Mya when she was 8 months old way before I even thought about doing photography professionally.  I thought it would be fun to redo the pose.  🙂  I think she looks like a totally different person!  It’s small because I have no idea where this picture is stored and I had to grab it off of our family blog.

Photo of the Year Contest 2011!

Okay so here it is again!  This year is going to be super hard for me because I loved so many pictures from my sessions this year.  As a photographer, I feel like I grow and learn more and more over time so I can see improvement in my photos and I look forward to learning even more in the upcoming year!  So here are the rules!

-Each picture has a caption under it.  When you or someone else votes for your picture, they must put that caption in their comment, on this post, no other post.  (Not sure why, but in the past people have posted their comments under other posts.)  So scroll to the end of this post and that is where you can leave your comment for who you want to vote for.

-Each person may only vote one time.

-This contest will end a week from today, on December 23rd at 2:00, so email everyone you know and have them help you vote!

-The winner of this contest will win a $30 coupon to order prints from their gallery (not just their winning photo).  This may not sound like much, but I’m making print prices insanely cheap!!!
