There’s just something about the warm tones of fall that make my heart so happy. Every year, when the air starts to cool and the light gets softer, I find myself reaching for all of my cozy, golden, rust-colored props and blankets. Those deep ambers, soft browns, and burnt oranges feel like home to me.
After living in Asheville for so long, fall has always meant color. The trees there seem to catch fire with red and gold, and it always inspired me — in my photos, and in my studio styling. I honestly thought I’d be missing that beauty after moving to the East Bay… but I’ve been so surprised! The hills here are full of light and texture, and there are so many pops of color tucked between the eucalyptus and oaks. It’s different, but in such a lovely way.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss photographing my favorite Asheville families this time of year. Fall always brought returning clients, new babies, and so many familiar faces. I miss the hugs and stories — watching the babies I once swaddled now running around in the leaves. But one of the best parts of this new chapter has been meeting so many wonderful families here in the East Bay. Every new session feels like the start of something special — new connections, new friendships, new memories.
So even though my view looks a little different now, my love for fall hasn’t changed. It still shows up in every blanket I layer, every tiny hat I tie, and every photograph I accent with a matching pumpkin. Whether I’m in Asheville or here in the Bay, the warmth of this season — and the people I get to photograph — keeps inspiring me. ~Brandy Lewis (East Bay Newborn Baby Photographer)
