This past weekend I met the most beautiful family: the mom, dad, the grandmother and this precious little being, Lily. She was such a perfect baby with the most gorgeous eyes, skin and mouth! Her mom was so amazing. Some people were just meant to be mothers and she is one of those people. She had such a calming, loving nature about her. If Lily got upset, the instant I put her in her mom’s arms and she heard her humming, she would instantly get content. I was in awe. It was such a sweet thing to witness. Lily spent her first week in the hospital which broke my heart for mom and dad but I’m so happy that she’s now home in the loving care of such a nurturing family. She’s one lucky girl to have those three there to love and guide her. It was such a pleasure to meet you guys. Congratulations on your new, beautiful baby girl!

A friend of mine just had her third baby, but her first girl! I’ve loved watching her go through her pregnancy and celebrating with her when she found out it was girl. She’s such a great mom and is so in love with her babies. She has been so excited about her session and so have I. I couldn’t wait for Reese to be born so that I could finally see that sweet little face. She was just as cute as I knew she would be. Her session was probably one of the longest sessions I’ve had. Her favorite sleeping place was in her momma’s arms and who could blame her? But I’m glad that mom was just as determined as I was to get some beautiful shots. And we did! Thank you so much for choosing me to do photos for you, friend! I can’t wait to hold that baby girl again!

So as time has gone on, I have discovered how much I truly love newborn photography. I love working with families and children too but after lots of thinking and ho and humming, I have decided that my focus is now going to be on newborns and babies up to one year. I will still be doing family sessions for families that have done sessions with me in the past or families that do newborn/baby sessions with me but I will no longer be taking new families for family sessions. I may eventually only be doing family sessions as mini-sessions in the spring and fall, but for now I will book them anytime of year. This is a huge step, leading in the direction that I want to take. I’m excited and nervous about it. Will I be able to get enough business? Will I miss doing so many family sessions? Only time will tell and I can always go back! So yay to change and to doing what you love. This is hardly considered a job because I adore it so much!
To totally change the subject, here are some more photos from last weekend’s session. This little man is just precious!
Practice, Practice/Asheville Newborn Photographer
Today I had some time to practice some new Photoshop techniques. It’s kind of my obsession right now, making the perfect newborn photos! That’s good news for my clients, right?! I met a mom today that had emailed me a year ago wanting to do newborn photos but I was already booked solid. I told her that I’ve improved so much since last year so now she’s just going to have to have another baby! hehe I hope to always continue to grow and learn! This is the photo that I worked on today of this new baby boy from a recent session!

This little baby boy is the most precious thing ever! Wouldn’t you agree?! And the best part of all is that I get to see even more of his sweet little self every time his momma posts pictures to Instagram or Facebook. It’s so amazing to be friends with clients so that I get to watch their little ones grow!
