Piper is 1!/Asheville Birthday Photographer

Oh how time flies.  I just can’t believe that a year has passed since this amazing little girl entered our lives.  I can’t imagine how we did it without her.  She’s the sweetest little baby and I love that I get to be her mom.  We did her pictures at the Biltmore House since we did my maternity pictures there a week before she was born.  I was excited to go back and be in those same places where we took pictures but this time she would be with us!  It brought back so many memories being there, the excitement and nervousness of not knowing what things were going to be like once she was born.  The doctors had us scared to death and I was also really nervous about what it was going to be like having three young kids.  The three young kids part has actually not been so hard.  The doctors scaring us part, well, we’re still figuring everything out and hope to get answers here in the next few weeks.

Taking pictures at the Biltmore House is stressful.  It involves getting there so early before the gates close and just hanging out until the light is right.  Last year, it was great and the kids were wonderful.  This year, hmmm…well, the kids were a little crazy!  River was so exhausted since he isn’t taking naps anymore and ended up tripping and falling into the rocks right onto his forehead, all before deciding that he had to have some pennies out of a wishing pond and getting his clothes soaked.  Mya was wild and was all over the place.  Piper was not happy and I am not sure why but it was so hard getting her to smile.  She was terrified of the balloons and screamed and cried if they came near her.  I ended up losing her headband that I really wanted her to wear, one that she wore for her newborn pictures, for sentimental reasons.  There wasn’t any sun and we had to carry the stroller up a gajillion stairs.  It just wasn’t how I envisioned it at all.  When we left, I wasn’t happy with the pictures that we got, but well, it is what it is.  And that’s all I can say about that.  lol  I commend all of my clients for doing sessions with a photographer.  It is stressful as a parent!  I’m glad it’s over but I’m glad we have these pictures to commemorate such a very special birthday!  So in the end, it was all worth it!  Happy birthday to my beautiful little Piper!

My friend Jan is just starting her cake and cookie making business.  Check her out if you ever need anything! She is amazing!  https://www.facebook.com/Janscookies1?ref=profile

+1/Asheville Family Photographer

This evening I met up with a family that I’ve done photos for since their little girl was a newborn:  see here.  I love watching families grow and it was so cool seeing their little girl again since I hadn’t seen her in almost a year! She is adorable and so spunky.  I will admit, this is a hard age to photograph.  They want their independence and they want to explore and run.  We managed to make it work even with some way-too-bright sun (thanks time change)!  It was so great seeing you guys again!  I can’t wait to meet that new little baby boy, or girl?  😉

Baby Blues/Asheville Baby Photographer

Yesterday I did another in-home session.  These are starting to be my favorites and I think I see my business moving into a whole new direction!  I just needed someone to shake me out of my comfort zone!  This baby girl was SO beautiful.  The parents thought I say that about every baby but I mean, really, this girl was so pretty!  Her eyes were amazing and she was so sweet.  I loved holding her and talking to her.  I now know how I can fix my everlasting baby fever!  😉  Sorry it took so long for a sneak peak, but my computer decided to uh, blow up, not literally, but it did go totally crazy and wouldn’t start back up.  My husband is so amazing and worked on it constantly until it was fixed.  Thank God for him!  Can anyone say “Ulcer”?!!  Here are just a few of the pictures that I’ve had the chance to edit so far.

Her Grandmother was there so I got a few shots of her while she took a little snooze:

Valentine Sweethearts/Asheville Baby Photographer

I did Valentine mini-sessions for my moms’ group this morning.  Normally I do one setup for these types of sessions, but this year, I wanted to do so many things that I ended up doing three.  I like to make my own backdrops and props, so the past two weeks, I’ve been up late painting and crafting away.  Even River helped me out some!  😉  Our kitchen counter has been a wreck and my totally organized self was about to go crazy!  😉  But it was worth it and I love how these turned out and the babies were all so cute and sweet.  Thank you guys for coming over in the freezing cold!

Piper had her pictures taken too.  This little outfit was a gift from a friend and it finally fits.  The headband was a gift from a client.  She put a jewel on it that belonged to her grandmother.  Needless to say, that was the sweetest thing any client has ever done.  Thank you so much Jennifer!
