Happy Half/Asheville Child Photographer

Mya just turned 4 1/2.  I wasn’t going to do pictures this time around because we just did some at the beach, but one day out of the blue when I told her that she would be 4 1/2 soon, she said, “Oh yay!  That means we get to do pictures, right?”  So I found a cute little outfit for her and have been holding onto it ever since. My sweet little client that I was supposed to do a session with today was sick so I thought this was the perfect day to do Mya’s pictures.   I had to wake her up from her nap to get her ready since the sun is now down by 5:30 and she was not happy.  I almost said, “Forget it,” but once I told her that we needed to get going before it got dark so that we could take her pictures, she was up and so happy!  She was the cutest thing ever when we were out there.  Every person that passed by, she said, “I’m 4 1/2!  We’re doing pictures.  This was my idea!”  😉  If you know my girl, you know that she is very outgoing and loves to talk to adults, much more than her semi-shy momma!  And it just so happened that we went to a birthday party today so she wanted to bring her balloon, perfect!  I love this girl more than I love Mexican food.  Now that’s a whole heck of a lot.  LOL  Happy 1/2 birthday my sweet girl!  You rocked it tonight!

Her face is just so perfect to me, so angelic.  🙂

Half Sessions!/Asheville Family Photographer

I have been thinking and thinking about doing half sessions for a while.  It’s something that I’ve never done but I’ve noticed that many people prefer mini-sessions over a full session.  Maybe it’s the cost involved or the fact that they just don’t want so many photos.  Either way, I think I’m going to give this a go!  Here is what a half session will look like:

*The sitting fee will be cut in half:  $70 rather than $140.  Newborn sessions will be $90 rather than $180.

*The session itself will last for about an hour rather than 2.  (Newborn sessions will be closer to 2-3 hours.)

*The number of color photos in your gallery will be around 12 (10 for newborn) rather than 25 (18-20 for newborns).  There will still be the black and white and vintage options as well in your gallery!  Print prices will remain the same.  Please see “Contact and Pricing” for print prices.

*As always, these sessions can include as many people as you would like (your immediate family).

If you are interested in a half or full session, please email me at brandy@brandylewisphotography com!  These sessions can be given as gifts!

Just Smashing!/Asheville Birthday Photographer

I love doing cake smash pictures!  It’s even better if the baby hasn’t had much sweet stuff.  It’s fun to watch their reaction.  I just can’t believe that this sweet little girl is turning one!  I could swear I just did her newborn pictures!!  She has gotten more and more beautiful.  I’m a girly girl so I love that her momma loves girly things for their pictures.  🙂  Happy birthday sweet thing!  Now you’re even sweeter after that  cake!

Happy 4th Birthday!/Asheville Child and Birthday Photographer

Next weekend Mya will be turning 4!  I love this age.  I really do.  And I can say that with an honest face because this girl has been a tough little firecracker!  She has gotten so much easier and I can’t be happier!  I blame that on many things:  occupational therapy that she started in December, a HUGE change in diet, and maturity.  She is now the sweetest little thing and I love her more than life itself!  She was so very excited about these pictures.  I think she was more excited about these than she is her actual birthday!  I’ve been getting stuff ready for these pictures for a few weeks and she just loved seeing everything come together.  She kept asking if this bear or that bear could come to her tea party.  😉  I decided to do this tea party setting with her bears because if you know Mya, you know that she LOVES having tea in the afternoons and has for a long time.  I blame it on her English roots.  I love sitting on the back porch with her and drinking tea after her “nap”.  Yeah, I said, “Nap” because I am in major denial that that nap is gone!  For the past week, she hasn’t slept and I’m very upset about this.  Her nap time is my work time!  So looks like I might be working some late nights now.  zzzz  But back on track!  I wanted to put Mya’s bears in the pictures because her bears are her buddies.  Papa Bear, she will tell you, is her best friend!  He is like a member of our family.  He got left one day at the mall and a friend of mine, knowing exactly how important he is to us, raced over there and rescued him.  I actually cried thanking her because I knew that if we didn’t get him back, our lives would not be the same and because Mya was so heartbroken when she discovered his disappearance.  I had so much fun putting this session together for my girl.  Happy 4th birthday to the smartest, most beautiful, sweetest, quirkiest little girl I know:  my sweet pea!  I love you!

She had been asking if River was going to get to have a cupcake with her so I decided to let him crash the tea party.  These pictures make me laugh so hard.  He was SO funny!  When I was setting all of this up, he was very interested and tried his darndest to destroy everything!  He’s at that stage where he just wants to grab, tear, and throw everything down.  lol  Well, when he got to sit at the table, he just sat there and looked at me like, “What?  Really?  I get to actually touch this stuff now?!”  He didn’t know how to eat the cupcake and decided he didn’t like the icing on his fingers.  So he came up with a plan.  He dipped his tea cup into the icing and would lick the icing off.  He did this over and over.  Mya and I were laughing so hard at him!  He’s a funny boy.

One Year Old/Asheville Birthday Photographer

My baby bear is turning one this coming week so I did his birthday pictures this weekend.  I’ve been planning and planning his pictures for months now.  I had it in my head that his pictures would be in my studio with it being March.  But this has not been much of a winter and to my surprise it was actually really warm yesterday.  So change of plans.  Why, oh why, did I have a winter baby?  😉  Didn’t I know that my dreams of a first birthday session outside would be squashed?!  I’m having a really hard time with him turning one.  So many emotions have gone through me.  One day I’m happy to see him growing into such a fun, happy little boy and the next I’m crying my eyes out, not wanting to believe that he is growing up.  I’m not sure if it’s because he has been the easiest, happiest baby ever made and I know what comes next:  the terrible two’s!  Or if it’s just because I know he’s our last and I don’t want the time to go so quickly.  Either way, I am sad that he is getting so big so fast.  I’m so sad about it that I keep wondering if we should have just one more.   My brain says, “No way! Are you crazy?!”  But my mom heart says, “Ohhhh yes.  One more sweet little baby!”  😉  And then there’s my husband.  Oh yeah.  Thanks for putting me back on planet Earth, honey!  lol  So happy birthday to the most amazing little man.  You rock my world and have my heart buddy!

My husband got one of me and my little man together.  Sometimes being a photographer has its disadvantages.  I’m not in many pictures with the kids.  But I love this one.
