This family is one of my sweet Asheville families that I got to do newborn photos for twice! I was so excited when they emailed me to say that they were expecting their second baby. They sure do make beautiful babies. It’s always so cool to see families come back with their big kid who I last saw as a newborn! It’s fun to see their personalities and how so much of the time, it’s the same! I’m praying hard for this family right now and all of their neighbors and community. They were hit very hard by the hurricane and are struggling. I love you guys and am so thankful that you are okay! ~Brandy Lewis (East Bay Area Newborn Baby Photographer)
Sweet Family/East Bay Area Newborn Baby Photographer
I met this family for their studio newborn session and then for their in-home session. This mom was so wonderful with communication and sent me photos of their baby girl after she was born which I loved! By the time I left the in-home session, I felt like I knew them so well and even after moving, we still keep in touch and text each other. I love when clients become friends! I’m thinking about this family today and all of my friends and family in Asheville. I know this is tough. I’m so sorry!! Sending big hugs to you all! ~Brandy Lewis (East Bay Area Newborn Baby Photographer)
WNC/East Bay Newborn Baby Photographer
As most of you readers know, I am an east bay newborn baby photographer, but you may not know that we just moved from Asheville, N.C. What is happening in Asheville right now is so heartbreaking and devastating. So many people have lost their homes, family members. People are without water and won’t have water for a month or so. There won’t be school. People have been trapped because of fallen trees and mudslides. So many don’t have any connection to the outside world to even know what’s happening because there isn’t any power or cell service. Asheville is my home, where I grew up and where my family is. Being so far away and not being able to help is so hard. I have finally been able to speak to my family today because one of my cousins has cell service at least for today. The communities there have really come together to help each other out and the local government has been amazing with communication and getting resources out to everyone. I’m praying hard for everyone who has been affected by this awful tragedy.
I took these photos of our kids in Chimney Rock in 2020. This river completely took out all of the buildings and homes on the main street and beyond. So many people lost everything.
So many places that we knew are gone. The gym where our kids did gymnastics, the venue where we saw live music, the salon that we went to, the river arts district where we went fairly often,….my heart breaks for the businesses that have lost everything.
I am so thankful that my family is alive. We are going back for Thanksgiving and it’s going to be so sad to see so many places just gone. I love you, Asheville and no matter where I live, you will always be my home. ~Brandy Lewis (East Bay Newborn Baby Photographer)
Pink & Lace/East Bay Area Newborn Baby Photographer
One of my favorite things to do is go to fabric stores and look for new textures for my newborn baby sessions. I love finding different laces, burlap, new cotton backdrops. I have way too many backdrops. lol I definitely buy less stuff than I did when I was just starting out since I have such a big collection now but it’s still fun to browse and see if I can find something that I love. At one point in my life I really wanted to be an interior designer. Putting colors and fabrics together is something that I really like to do. Before my sessions, once I know the colors that the parents want to use, I get out all of my items and props that go with those colors and start putting things together. It’s one of my favorite things about my job. Well, that and getting to hang out with new little babies! ~Brandy Lewis (East Bay Area Newborn Baby Photographer)
Outdoor Babies/East Bay Area Newborn Baby Photographer
In 2020, I started doing newborn baby sessions outdoors and discovered that I really loved it! I love finding new locations and the perfect spots to go with the colors that I have set up for the session. This first sweet girl was named Daisy so of course I had to include some daisies which I had found. I’m looking forward to finding new locations here in our new town. There are so many hidden trails and hikes that we are discovering by taking our dog walking. I can’t wait until the spring when everything starts turning green again! *Outdoor newborn sessions take place an hour before sunset. That is when the light is the most beautiful! I am now booking newborn and sitter/6 month sessions in the East Bay Area in my studio or outdoors! It’s never too early to book! Your second trimester is a great time to book! ~Brandy Lewis (East Bay Area Newborn Baby Photographer)
