Baby Boys/East Bay Newborn Baby Photographer

There’s something uniquely exciting about the future that unfolds for a baby boy. The thought of watching him grow up, learn, and discover the world around him brings a sense of joy that is hard to describe. From his first steps to his first words, to the day he discovers his own passions and personality, watching him evolve is an adventure of its own.

Many parents find themselves daydreaming about what their son might become. Perhaps a brilliant scientist, a talented artist, or a compassionate leader. Whatever it may be, there’s something deeply precious about knowing that this little person, just days old, holds infinite potential.  Newborn and toddler boys always take me back to when my son was that age and it makes me wish I could go back, even for just a day.

From the very moment my son, River entered this world, I knew my heart was forever changed. There’s something indescribable about the bond you feel with your child the instant you lay eyes on them. With River, it was no different. As a newborn, his little face—soft, innocent, and full of possibility—captured my heart in a way nothing else ever could. I loved him deeply from the moment he was born, and that love has only grown stronger with each passing day.

As I look back on the years, from his first days as a newborn to his latest triumphs as a teenager, I realize that this journey of parenthood is a full circle of love. It’s a love that deepens with each phase of his life, a love that evolves but never fades. Watching him grow, find his passions, and forge his own path has been an absolute privilege.

No matter how much time passes, I know one thing will always remain constant: my love for River. Whether he’s laughing as a toddler, playing basketball as a teen, or venturing into new parts of life as an adult, I’ll always be here—cheering him on, supporting him, and marveling at the amazing person he’s becoming.

Soak up all of the moments, parents.  I know it’s hard when you are exhausted and can only think about getting some sleep but trust me when I tell you, one day you will look back and wonder where the time went, really missing that innocent little baby that you once held in your arms.  I miss the nights of rocking my kids and  singing all of our songs at bedtime in the soft glow of the light up mobile above their bed.  I would give anything to get to do that again. Now I have teenagers who barely hug me!  lol  Thankfully I have a job where I get to snuggle babies.

In-Home Lifestyle/East Bay Newborn Baby Photographer

While studio photos can be beautiful, there’s something irreplaceable about the warmth of your own space for in-home lifestyle newborn photos. The pillows on your couch, the family heirloom blanket, or even the way your living room reflects your family’s personality—it’s all part of the story I’m telling with my camera. I want to capture the essence of your new life as a family, and there’s no better way to do that than by photographing you in the environment where you spend the most time together.

In-home sessions also give us the chance to document those quiet moments in a way that feels natural. I can capture those little details, like a sleepy snuggle in the nursery, a parent gazing down lovingly at their newborn, or a sibling gently holding the baby’s hand. All of these moments are elevated by the natural light that gently spills through the windows, casting a soft glow that’s as much a part of the scene as the people in it.

Another reason I gravitate toward in-home lifestyle sessions is that they’re much more relaxed. There’s no need for parents to worry about coordinating outfits, packing up the baby, or heading to a studio. You’re already home, in your element, with all the things you need right at your fingertips. Babies are most comfortable in their own environment, which means they’re more likely to be calm and relaxed during the session—leading to photos that are full of genuine, peaceful expressions.

The atmosphere of your home creates a kind of serene energy, and as I work, I get to witness those quiet, beautiful moments between you and your newborn. I’m there to document the real connection—no stress, no posing, just you being you, with the soft light adding that perfect finishing touch.

Dark and Moody/East Bay Newborn Baby Photographer

If you’ve seen much of my work, you know that dark and moody is my style.  As a newborn photographer, every session is an opportunity to capture something fleeting and beautiful. The soft curls of a baby’s hair, the tiny fingers and toes, the peacefulness that comes with a new life—these are the elements I focus on. But just as important as the baby is the setting. The colors, textures, and subtle details I choose to include help tell a story, and I find that incorporating seasonal colors adds an extra layer of meaning and warmth to the images. For example, during the cooler months of fall and winter, I love using this dark teal.

Fall and winter are naturally associated with cool, quiet times. The days are shorter, the air is crisp, and the environment feels a bit more subdued. Dark teal—a rich, muted color—feels right for this time of year. It evokes a sense of calm, while still offering depth. It’s not as stark as black or as bright as other winter colors, but it adds that subtle layer of richness that feels both seasonal and timeless.

Incorporating seasonal colors into newborn photography isn’t about over-complicating things—it’s about enhancing the mood of the photo. Dark teal in the fall and winter brings a sense of depth, comfort, and warmth, while still allowing the baby to shine. It’s a quiet way to reflect the season without overpowering the simplicity of the moment. In the end, my goal is to capture the beauty of new life in a way that feels both current and timeless!

CA Studio Session/East Bay Newborn Baby Photographer

Hello friends!

As many of you know, I recently made a big move across the country to beautiful California. The transition has been both exciting and challenging, but now that I’ve settled in, I’m thrilled to be capturing moments for families here in this gorgeous new place. And let me tell you, my very first newborn session in the studio since the move could not have been more perfect!

I had the privilege of meeting a beautiful baby boy and his sweet family, and let me just say—this little one was an absolute dream. Not only was he a total champ during the session, but his parents were  just as sweet, calm, and kind as could be. From start to finish, the session felt like an effortless flow of love and connection, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of such a special time in their lives.

I’m so grateful to this wonderful family for trusting me with such an important milestone in their lives. Their baby boy will grow so fast, but we captured these fleeting moments together, and I hope these images will always remind them of the warmth and joy they shared in those early days.

As I continue settling into life here in California, I’m excited for the many more newborn sessions ahead. Every new family brings a new story, a new energy, and a new joy to the studio, and I can’t wait to meet more little ones and their wonderful parents.

If you’re expecting or know someone who is, I’d love to help document these early moments. It’s truly an honor to be a part of these sweet beginnings.
