I am now offering newborn lifestyle sessions for babies up to one month of age in the East Bay Area! These sessions take place in your home. These sessions are much more relaxed than a studio session. These sessions allow you to be in your home where we can use your space to create gorgeous photos. Here are some tips to help you prepare for our session!
-Sessions must take place on a weekday morning between 10 and 2:00. Most sessions take about an hour and a half up to 2 hours.
-Please open all blinds (pulled all the way up) and curtains. I only use natural light so the more light we can get, the better!
-Please turn off all lights in rooms that we will be using.
-I will pick rooms and spaces that work best with space and light but typically use the main bedroom or a spare room that has good light, living room and nursery. I will move things around to create a more pleasing look for the photos but will move everything back. *Please clear out any clutter, clearing side tables of anything that is not pleasing for photos. *I suggest using a laundry basket to throw things in to put away for your session so that it is easy to put back after the session. Please do this before I arrive so that it doesn’t take away from the session time.
-What to wear: casual neutral colors look best: whites, creams and tans. Please avoid clothing with patterns, prints and logos. No shoes or socks looks best. For the baby, a plain white onesie is best. I don’t typically photograph busy outfits and accessories. We want the focus to be on the baby, not the outfit and we want your photos to be timeless. I ask for colors before your session so that I can bring wraps that look great with the colors in your home. I can’t stress enough how important it is to dress in neutral colors. Whites, creams, and tans look the best over gray or blue.
-I do get photos of the big siblings with the baby. Some families have their older child there the whole time and some families have them come for just part of the session. It’s up to you!
-These sessions do not include prop photos but rather use your space, furniture and beds to place the baby on for a more natural, organic look and feel.
-I like to suggest turning on some music that you might listen to on an easy Sunday morning to set a relaxing tone. It often helps families to feel at ease and to set a good mood for the session.
I look forward to working with you!
