The Princess and the Frog/Manhattan Child Photographer

This morning I did 2 year birthday pictures for this sweet little thang!  Her momma is in a playgroup that I started.  I met her through a different playgroup when I first moved to NY and she sent me the absolutely nicest email.  She has been so helpful to me.  I’m lucky to have met her and her beautiful little family!  I see a strong friendship about to start up.  😉  Her daughter was so easy!  All I had to do was bust out my handy dandy little frog and she was laughing and smiling.  Thank you guys for hanging out with me in this awful heat!!  Have a great trip to Phoenix.  NY will miss you while you are gone!  And happy birthday sweet little girl!

Poor thing, it was really hot, as you can see:

My First NY Session: Manhattan Family Photographer

I did my first New York session this morning.  I have to say I was a bit nervous.  I’m not even sure why!  This mom and her 2 children are in the playgroup that I started here.  I clicked with them immediately after meeting them.  I love when that happens!  I feel like I’ve known them for so much longer!  I had a great time with them this morning.  I did learn that doing sessions here in the city is much more different than in Austin.  There are lots of people everywhere and you’re always in their way.  lol  Oh well, I guess that is something that I will have to get used to.  Maybe I should start wearing a bright orange vest when doing sessions so that people don’t plow right over me.  😉  Thank you guys for hanging out with me this morning! I hope that the little guy gets to feeling better!

This was after we were all packed up and were getting ready to leave.  I love this one of dad and his little buddy just hangin out.  🙂

Sometimes a Hat is All You Need!

Today we went to the BBQ Festival.  It was just like being in Austin but greener!  We went because one of our favorite singer/songwriters from Austin was going to be there, Carolyn Wonderland.  Turns out, they had a stage called “Meat Austin Music” where there were lots of Austinite bands.  We were thrilled!  We had so much fun!!  I’m so glad that we went.  It did take a little bit of work to get there on time.  We had to get Mya up earlier than usual this morning, take her to a park to run, run, run to wear her out all so that we could lay her down early for her nap so that we could get her up earlier than usual.  It worked!  We got to the festival just as Carolyn was starting.  After checking out the music for a while we went to find the BBQ.  I was on a mission to find the N.C. stand.  We finally found it.  It was the last one and it was closed!  No!  I wanted my N.C. style of BBQ.  TX BBQ is good, so good, but just different.  We finally found a stand that had something that looked similar to what I was used to and it was divine!!  After we ate, my hat became the center of entertainment for about 1/2 an hour.  😉  Love it when Mya can be that easily entertained!  We can’t wait to go back to the festival again next year.  Could this city get any better, really?

Memorial Weekend

This weekend we had so much fun checking out new parks and places around our neighborhood.  I had no idea that so many playgrounds in NY have sprinklers.  So cool!  Mya is in love with them too.  It was a hot weekend so thank goodness for all of the cool water!  Hope everyone had a nice, relaxing Memorial Weekend!!  I feel so revived.  Ryder and I even took a nap yesterday while Mya was napping.  We never, ever do that.  I almost felt like we were on vacation!  Ahhhh…now back to the daily grind.  😉

Happy Momma’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you great mommas out there!  If your children are as challenging as my child, you deserve the most relaxing day possible!  😉  Here’s to sleeping in, breakfast in bed (or on your air mattress if you are in the middle of moving like us LOL), and bubble baths!  Here are some more pictures from yesterday because editing pictures is how I relax!

I think this momma just looks stunning in this picture.  When I took it, I knew it was going to be one of my favorites!  Her eyes are just so beautiful!  I love the shape of them.

I loved this little boy!!  He was so cute and so sweet and I loved playing with him.  Can’t wait to see Mya at this age.

Trying to get this shot was so hard!  LOL I told the mom and dad to just make out and I would watch the kids.  Well, I forgot what happens when you let a toddler loose that just learned how to walk.  They want to just GO!  I was wrangling her and her brother and taking them back to the spot that I wanted them in over and over.  At one point the mom said, “Should we keep making out?  This is like having a free baby sitter!”  Ahh haaa!  So this was the best I got.  Meanwhile, sister was taking off for the hills behind me!
