This baby girl was such a smiley girl at her session. I loved that her dimples matched her mommas! This couple was so sweet together and make awesome parents. I’ve loved watching her grow up through Instagram. That’s one thing I love about my job. I get to see families over the years through social media. Some of my clients are in high school now which is mind blowing! Time sure does fly! I hope you guys are doing well!! ~Brandy Lewis (East Bay Newborn Baby Photograpehr)
As most of you readers know, I am an east bay newborn baby photographer, but you may not know that we just moved from Asheville, N.C. What is happening in Asheville right now is so heartbreaking and devastating. So many people have lost their homes, family members. People are without water and won’t have water for a month or so. There won’t be school. People have been trapped because of fallen trees and mudslides. So many don’t have any connection to the outside world to even know what’s happening because there isn’t any power or cell service. Asheville is my home, where I grew up and where my family is. Being so far away and not being able to help is so hard. I have finally been able to speak to my family today because one of my cousins has cell service at least for today. The communities there have really come together to help each other out and the local government has been amazing with communication and getting resources out to everyone. I’m praying hard for everyone who has been affected by this awful tragedy.
I took these photos of our kids in Chimney Rock in 2020. This river completely took out all of the buildings and homes on the main street and beyond. So many people lost everything.
So many places that we knew are gone. The gym where our kids did gymnastics, the venue where we saw live music, the salon that we went to, the river arts district where we went fairly often,….my heart breaks for the businesses that have lost everything.
I am so thankful that my family is alive. We are going back for Thanksgiving and it’s going to be so sad to see so many places just gone. I love you, Asheville and no matter where I live, you will always be my home. ~Brandy Lewis (East Bay Newborn Baby Photographer)
One of my favorite things to do is go to fabric stores and look for new textures for my newborn baby sessions. I love finding different laces, burlap, new cotton backdrops. I have way too many backdrops. lol I definitely buy less stuff than I did when I was just starting out since I have such a big collection now but it’s still fun to browse and see if I can find something that I love. At one point in my life I really wanted to be an interior designer. Putting colors and fabrics together is something that I really like to do. Before my sessions, once I know the colors that the parents want to use, I get out all of my items and props that go with those colors and start putting things together. It’s one of my favorite things about my job. Well, that and getting to hang out with new little babies! ~Brandy Lewis (East Bay Area Newborn Baby Photographer)
I love the fall so much and love doing baby photos outside. This is our first fall in CA so I know it’s going to be different but I’m loving the cooler weather so far! I offer studio newborn and sitter/6 month sessions and also outdoor newborn and sitter sessions. The outdoor photos are my favorites because you can add so much color and texture. Babies are fully wrapped in the outdoor newborn photos to keep them nice and warm. I love newborn baby photos in black and white! With each session, most images are given to you in color and then also black and white. I love how classic they are. My style is simple and easy and will withstand the test of time. My goal is for people to never look back and say, “Ooo, those are so 2020’s!” You know what I’m talking about! Remember those family photos where everyone wore the white shirts and jeans?! Or the selective coloring where only one part of the photo was in color?! I’m guilty of that and thought it was so fun to do back in one of my photography classes, much to the dismay of my teacher. LOL I used to use bright colors, crazy props and headbands. You won’t see that happening anymore. 😉 I’m sticking with simple, timeless and beautiful from here on out! ~Brandy Lewis (Bay Area Newborn Baby Photographer)
