Success!/Asheville Child Valentines Photographer

I did it!  Woohoo!  I got Mya’s pictures taken and it was rather easy, if I do say so myself.  If you follow my blog, you know that Mya has never liked having her picture taken.  Need some examples?  See here, and here, and here.  I could add more, but you get the idea.  So I’ve had my studio all set up and have showed it to her many times to get her used to the idea.  I showed her her shirt that I made for her.  I showed her her pictures from last year.  She even watched me paint this chair.  She wanted to be the first to try it out!  (This chair was something I found at Goodwill thinking it would be an easy, cheap new prop.  Ha!  It ended up costing me nearly $80 after all of the paint!  Good grief!  The silver bucket, on the other hand, was only $5!  Makes up for it.  A little.)  So this morning, we went and got the chair to see how it looked after its final coat of paint and I asked her what she thought about taking her pictures with the chair.  Her response:  “Do I have to take my pajamas off?”  😉  So she got changed and was very excited.  All we had to do was let Papa Bear go first and then she was great!  Yay!  Mission accomplished, again!  So why am I dreading her 4 year pictures when they are still 4 months away?!

And Papa Bear!  He was a natural!  😉

My Sweetie/Asheville Valentines Photographer

I’ve got my studio all set up, ready for some Valentines pictures coming up with some baby girls, but I couldn’t leave out my baby boy!  So I decided to set something up for him on the side that’s not all pink and frilly!  I’m going to take Mya’s pictures too, but with her, she is a little more difficult.  I have to show her the setup, get it into her mind that I might be taking her pictures coming up soon and then just wait for her to tell me that she wants her picture taken.  That’s why I’m starting in January!  😉  I usually buy her a shirt but this year I decided to be a little crafty and make hers and River’s shirts.  I think I’m now hooked.  First it was the flower headbands and now shirts.  Next thing you know, I’m going to have an Etsy shop.  😉

Cabin Fever!/Asheville Baby Photographer

So winter is here and I’m not talking about lots of fun snow to play in.  It’s more like cloudy, dreary days with lots of wind and temperatures that make it too cold to get outside except to just run to and from the car.  I will say, after so long in NY without a car and having to actually walk everywhere in it, I will take this!  I can deal.  But River, he is not having it.  Poor thing just stares out the windows wanting to go out.  If I open the door for the dogs, he cries when I shut it.  I know little man, I feel the same way.  Summer will be here soon, just 4-5 more very long months!  😉  And pool, I’ve got my eye on you.  You’re going to be tired of seeing us this summer!

10 Months!/Asheville Baby Photographer

River is 10 months old today.  I was just telling my mom the other day that this past year has been the fastest year of my life!  I can’t believe that in 2 months he will be one.  🙁  Where, oh where does time go?  I think that maybe that first 6 1/2 months of sleep deprivation did a number on my memory of that time.  Baby Bear, you are a mother’s dream.  You make me smile all day, everyday.  You are such a joy to all of those around you.  Thank you for being the easiest, happiest baby on the planet!  Love you, little man!  (Poor thing has to wear all of my photo prop hats!)

I used this chair in his newborn pictures too.  See here.  I think I might use it one more time when he’s one.  Still working on those photo ideas in my head.  🙂

If you look closely at this picture, you might notice a few things from previous photo sessions.  That’s right, props are used and used again around here folks.

Testing, Testing 1, 2, 3/Asheville Baby and Child Photographer

My studio is now all set up and I had to try it out this morning.  Thanks to my amazing husband for all of his hard work!  He rocks the house!!  I love how men are able to put things together so easily.  I told him what I needed as far as flooring and a backdrop stand and he came up with the coolest design!  I can’t even put a book shelf together!  I blame it on not doing enough puzzles as a child.  😉  I’m so very excited to be using my studio now for newborn and baby sessions!  So what better way to try it out than with some New Year’s pictures?  Happy 2012 to all of you out there!  Hope this year is filled with lots of smiles and good health!

I took this photo of Mya when she was 8 months old way before I even thought about doing photography professionally.  I thought it would be fun to redo the pose.  🙂  I think she looks like a totally different person!  It’s small because I have no idea where this picture is stored and I had to grab it off of our family blog.
