Happy 3rd Birthday, Mya!/Asheville Child Photographer

Wow!  I can’t believe my baby is  turning 3!  In some ways I feel like she was just born, but at the same time, I feel like she’s been with us forever!  I was very excited to do her pictures and have been thinking for a while what I wanted to do.  I loved her pictures from last year.  See here.  But, it was not fun trying to get her to smile for me then.  I had to trick her into taking her pictures.  No, no, I’m not taking pictures of you!  I’m taking pictures of the bluebonnets!  From the time she was about a year old, I could not take her pictures without her screaming and crying!  Since I was in the process of wanting to learn all that I could about photography, this was a huge disappointment to me!  She was my main subject!  Well, lately, all of that has changed and she has loved having her pictures taken!  Yay!  UNTIL yesterday!  Yesterday was the day that we planned on doing her pictures.  It was also the day that we went to the most insane Easter egg hunt in the world.  And it was also the day that we decided that she didn’t need a nap because she woke up so late in the morning.  BAD idea!  She did not want her pictures taken and refused to cooperate.  On top of that, there were only about a million gnats swarming all around us the entire time that I was trying to take her pictures.  I was so ready to lose my mind!  I really don’t know how I got any decent pictures, but somehow I did and I just love them!  Next year, I told Ryder that we are taking her to a portrait studio!  I kid, I kid.  😉  Maybe she will be back to her model loving self by then.  I can only hope!

Spring is Here/Asheville Child Photographer

We moved into our house in the middle of winter.  In fact, when we found the house, we were visiting from NY and there was  a huge snowstorm.  We only had a few days to find a house to rent and so after seeing our house on-line, we had to go see it right away before going back to NY.  Well, this house is up the mountain a little ways and it was nearly impossible to get to.  We got stuck out on the road and then had to hike it up the crazy, steep driveway.  The snow was up to our knees!  Sooo, we hadn’t really seen what the yard is going to look like when it’s warm, until now.  There are some beautiful flowers everywhere!  These flowers are out by the pool that we haven’t even seen, since it’s been covered since we’ve lived here!  This morning Mya looked so cute in her outfit so I decided to take her out by the flowers and get her picture.  My sweet girl is getting so big!  Her 3 year birthday is coming up next month!  Where did the time go?

Gettin’ the Fever: Free Photo Session Contest/Asheville Family Photographer

**We have a winner!  Way to go Heather!!  As soon as I posted this, she guessed and got it right!  Maybe the question was too easy!  The answer was Key West!  I will be contacting you, Heather!  Congratulations!**

I am not doing sessions for the year until May but I’m already starting to get antsy.  I have a hard time just being a stay at home mom.  I just have to be doing something at all times.  While folding some laundry today, which I seem to be doing a lot of these days, I decided that it’s time to get the ball rolling.  I decided to have a contest for a free session.  I did this once in NY and it was a lot of fun.  Here’s the deal.  I will offer a free photo session to the first person who is able to guess the answer to my question.  Summer is coming up and all that’s on my mind is sand, sun and water!  (Maybe it’s the snow that I saw falling this morning that really got this on the brain.)  So the question is:  What is my favorite vacation spot?  Here are some clues!  It starts with a “K”.  It’s warm year round there.  They sell lots of pies there that are made with a local fruit.  That’s all I’m gonna say for now.  Each day I will put up a new clue until someone guesses the correct answer.

Here are some rules for the contest:

-You must live in or around the Asheville area.

-The session must take place in the month of May, on a weekend, early morning or late evening.

-The session does not include prints, just the sitting fee.

-Each person may only guess one time per day.

-Leave your guess as a comment.

Okay, there you have it!  Now get to guessing!  The contest will be over as soon as someone gets the correct answer!
